Electric Boiler Installation

  • Can be placed anywhere
  • Nearly 100% efficient
  • Suitable for small spaces

Electric Boilers

Traditionally boilers heat water using gas or oil, however boilers can also use electric to heat water too and that is where an electric boiler comes into place. They work a bit like a kettle, heating water via an element.

Electric boilers are great for remote areas without a gas supply. They are also a relatively simple piece of kit which can sometimes make them a good, low-cost option. Additionally, they produce zero waste gases so they are considered to be very eco-friendly for the environment. Oil boilers produce carbon dioxide emissions, so if you’re trying to be kinder to our planet you may wish to swap your oil boiler for an electric boiler.

Almost 100% efficient (hardly any heat is wasted during the heating process)

Can be installed in almost any property

What is the best electric boiler?

Small and powerful, the Potterton Gold 9kW electric boiler is an easy to control, lightweight and compact unit.

The Gold range guarantees reliability as standard, with quality control being very important. The entire Gold range are ultra energy efficient and are all endorsed by the Energy Saving Trust.

Please note: This model is not suitable for use with underfloor heating.

Should I Install an Electric Boiler?

You’ve read about all the advantages of an electric boiler, but sometimes there may be better options for your home such as a gas or oil boiler. The biggest disadvantage is the expense; your utility bills will be more higher because electricity is more expensive than both gas and oil.

If you’re unsure call us for a free, no obligation home survey. We’ll present you with a range of options you can choose from to help you make an informed decision.

Other Boiler Types

Combi Boiler

System Boiler

Regular Boiler

Combi (or combination) boilers are the UK’s most popular type of boiler for gas central heating and domestic hot water.

A Combi boiler only heats water when a hot tap or shower is turned on, ensuring maximum efficiency. There is no need to find space for a water storage cylinder or have a tank in the loft.

A system boiler pumps hot water to the radiators and a sealed hot water storage cylinder. Most major components of the heating and hot water system are built into the boiler, making installation easier, tidier and more efficient, and also simplifies servicing.

System boilers combine high efficiency and high performance with exceptional ‘green’ credentials.

Heat only boilers are also known as ‘regular’ or ‘conventional’ boilers. If you are replacing an old boiler and have a small expansion tank and a larger cold water storage cistern in your loft space, you probably already have a heat only boiler.

Heat only boilers are usually installed on an open vented system. The system will usually comprise two tanks in the loft.
